Julie A. Roth, American artist: b. 1975. A Wisconsin native, Roth graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), where she studied illustration, arts, and printmaking, developing a strong foundation in both technique and concept. She has shown her work in a variety of galleries and exhibitions across the country, earning recognition for her distinct visual voice. Viewers are often captivated by her compositions, which meld human forms with surrounding landscapes to create powerful narratives about our relationship with and impact on the natural world. Working primarily with traditional oil paints and stains, she thoughtfully incorporates the natural grain of wood panels together with bold linework and shifting line weights to produce imagery that feels both communicative and captivating. Commissioned to create the official poster for the Wisconsin State Fair in 2017, Julie continues to find fresh and meaningful ways to share her artistic voice. A long-standing passion for large-scale work has led to the completion of numerous commercial and private murals throughout Wisconsin, and her pieces are represented in private collections, businesses, and university holdings across the country.
